I thought today I would share a few things that are true that you may not believe.

1) Sriracha makes a kick ass salad topper. Okay, it’s official I am BEYOND obsessed with sriracha; I put it on everything. This salad consists of spinach, soy tempeh, a few crushed blue corn Food Should Taste Good chips, hummus, brussels, daiya cheddar (lives up to the hype), broccoli slaw, sriracha, and a little olive oil. IT IS SO GOOD!!

2) Revlon $5 lip glosses are the best around. I love trying out lip glosses (and lip sticks for that matter) and I always come back to my cheapo Revlons. Wonderfully bright colors too, and not sticky!

3) Sometimes I watch Intervention while drinking wine. I mean that UMA Sweet Malbec isn’t going to drink itself! 

4) I LOVE JCrew……Okay, maybe you already knew that one.

Share something surprising about things you do/like!

Last night I popped open a bottle of UMA Sweet Malbec to celebrate. We dined on lasagna and watched 5 hours of Comedy Central Standup. Maybe I’m a loser (but we already knew that) but it was a fantastic Saturday in. The wine was decent, not one of my favorites, but at $9.99 it was good for a cheap red. I find that it is much easier for wineries to produce a good cheap white then a red. And I have found a LOT of good/cheap Rieslings. Anyways, here are a few pics of the wine and me enjoying it.

Do you have a favorite affordable red? I love a good malbec, my favorite mid range is Crios Malbec, but the UMA Sweet was a little too sweet for me.

Mine has been busy filed with some hot yoga, Stonewerks, Specs, and work stuff. I swear, I often wonder how anyone with a job can blog (or maybe my job is just overly demanding or something) because it is HARD to find time to blog.

This was one of the best meals of my life. My apologies if you cannot see this site at work (they probably blocked it since it’s food porn!!) Hopefully you will enjoy the pictures almost as much as I enjoyed the meal.

The decor is woody and modern. The perfect amount of color pops.

The evening started with a Bluecoat Gin (BEST GIN EVER) Mint Gin Fizz. Holla.

They had Aventinous beer, one of Joey's all time favorites. He's so handsome.

An assortment of breads came next. This included a blue corn muffin, jalapeno sourdough, and cranberry something. I tried all of them. They all rocked.

GOAT CHEESE “QUESO FUNDIDO” Rajas + Blue Corn Tortilla Strips. This lived up to all the hype. I went ape shit over this stuff.

BLUE CORN PANCAKE: Barbecued Duck + Habanero Chile-Star Anise Sauce. Foodgasm.

Best margarita of my life. Even the salt tasted better than normal. I'm not worthy!!

My dish: CORNMEAL CRUSTED CHILIE RELLENO: Roasted Eggplant + Manchego Cheese Sweet Red Pepper Sauce + Balsamic Vinegar

Joey's plate: NEW MEXICAN SPICE RUBBED PORK TENDERLOIN Bourbon - Ancho Chile Sauce Sweet Potato Tamale + Crushed Pecan Butter. It's like art.

Brussels Sprouts with Pomegranates + Toasted Pecans. Bobby Flay is a GENIUS!!! This was the best part of the meal.

Joey's Dads plate: GREEN CHILE CIOPPINO Jumbo Prawn, Scallop, Grouper, Mussels served with Blue Corn Stick + Scallion Butter

Joey's Moms plate: PAN ROASTED VENISON Cranberries + Pumpkin Tamale with Allspice Butter

And apparently I didn’t take a picture of dessert because I was scarfing too fast!! My apologies. We had  CHURROS: Dusted with Cinnamon Sugar + Star Anise Dark Chocolate Dipping Chocolate. Swoon.

The whole meal was so freaking awesome. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If you go to Vegas YOU MUST GO.

After walking to strip for hours and hours we ate a wonderful Italian dinner at Basttista's. All you can drink wine?! No wonder I look like hell in this picture!!

Overall it was a GREAT day! These are only the highlights, for there is far too much to talk about!! We seriously saw almost every hotel on the strip; New York, New York (we road the coster on the roof), Planet Hollywood, Aria, Encore, Venetian, Cesar’s, Bellagio, Mirage, Treasure Island, Palazzo…..that’s all I can think of right now

Tomorrow I get back on the better eating bandwagon. Let me say I am not like all of those healthy food bloggers who semi-obstain on vacation; my inner jabba the hut comes out in full force

Full rundown when I get home

After a few days of complete bliss things got scary for me. Why? Because I started wedding planning and I felt completely lost. Honestly, I have never thought about my dreams for a wedding before. Ever since I met Joey I told him I wanted to marry him, but I never imagined the ceremony, reception, etc. For some reason planning an elaborate wedding made me feel strange inside. After some talks with Joey and my mama I figured out why……a big, traditional wedding just wasn’t me. Luckily, after months of contemplation and planning, Joey and I have found the BEST most AMAZING plans for us

Our wedding will be a very small courthouse ceremony with our immediate family. This will be followed by a “rehersal” (yes, that will be after the wedding)/ family dinner at our favorite Stone Oak (our neighborhood) restaurant Roaring Fork. The next day we will have our reception/cocktail party at one of the best restaurants in downtown San Antonio, Biga on the Banks. It is right on the riverwalk. It’s breathtaking.

A few weeks after we wed, we will spend a week and 1/2 overseas cruising the Mediterranean. Life. is. Good.

We finalized plans yesterday, and I can’t wait!!! I feel content, relaxed, and ready to marry the man of my dreams.

Through life it has been reinforced to me time and time again that I am most happy when I am true to myself. I found Joey when I was true to myself and I will marry him being true to myself
